I would say its a risky trade. Canes fans will say no because there isn't any other reality than Nikishin coming to NA and walking on water, but it is a lot of value to put on someone who has never played in the NHL.

Any time I see production stagnation from prospects in a lower league, I get skeptical. Panarin took longer to develop, but he was better when he left the KHL. I remember when Plotnikov came over from the KHL and sucked too. Grand Canyon difference between those two in the NHL, but they weren't terribly dissimilar in the KHL. Which just adds to the skepticism of his value as you identified.

No joke about the state of NC, which I love. Mostly a joke about Tony deangelo, Brendan lemieux and your owner

A joke made by another user/commenter. Not about the post itself.

Gotcha. Fwiw I don't think the trade is possible. If Canes thought another talented top 6 forward was enough to put them ahead of the pack enough to be cup favorites I would consider it. Nikishin is a nice piece, but you may need something now more than you will need him in 3 years.

We will all find out together. I can make the argument that Nikishin’s timeline fits exactly what the Canes need. If all goes to plan, he comes over when Orlov’s deal is done and he has a roster spot. I think all other prospects and picks are on the table.
