they're in a pending cap crunch, Chychrun is a similar quality player who makes just over half of what Ekblad does

If Boston was willing to trade that for Lindholm, I have to imagine Lindholm would have been a Bruin already

They did not need lindholm when the flames traded him. Bruins are in a free fall since the AS break. They are realizing the need for a true no. 1 center to anchor their lineup and are much more desperate.
