Only 4 more years telling TML fans Habs won't retain on Anderson.

Oh FCOL. I saw the title and thought you were at least going to include Darren Rumble in the package.

No Rumble, NO deal.

So be it, but that's probably the last chance you'll get at obtaining 1st rounder or anything of good value for him. That cap space sure must be valuable to a rebuilding team.

Habs will have plenty of cap space next year and maybe the year after. I’d rather pay a high pick in 3 years to dump him than retain salary on him for 4 years for a late first

That's Poor Asset Management 101. My comment was sarcastic in that you're not going to spend that money anyhow so why not unload Anderson and get a 1st rounder back, That retention ends precisely when you'll be ready to actually use that cap space.

Great point. My bad. Would have to come from a 3rd party then.

Flames are out of the playoffs and he's still a pending UFA, who likely explores the market. Why is trading him so outlandish to Flames fans?

Because he is almost guaranteed to be re-signed after saying multiple times how much his loyalty lies with us, he was supported on his mental health leave by the flames organization for almost two years and now we suddenly trade him for what is basically two nothing players and a couple low picks??

It's outlandish because you guys never actually look at the context of the trade and simply throw in random players you don't want and a few nothing picks for players that are worth more, and if you look at the context saying he will "likely explore the market" is a flat out lie and only a justification for your bad offer.

How is saying he likely explores the market "a flat out lie" when his current status is in fact a pending UFA? There's no guarantee either way. Expressing his appreciation and loyalty to the team after a rough stretch for him, doesn't necessarily mean its a slam dunk that he re-signs.

Because there is not a single source or rumor about him wanting to test the market or wanting a trade and I will trust his words when he says "he knows where his loyalties lies" over your speculation about his status as a pending UFA.

Even if it isn't a slam dunk that he re-signs and wants a trade (which given his recent comments is extremely unlikely), he's simply worth more than your offer.

If they can't extend him by the TDL, then a trade isn't out of the question. I like the player, and I agree that he is worth more, notwithstanding the lengthy hiatus, which is why I'm curious to see how it unfolds.
