Oilers literally just paid a 4th for one year of extra retention on Henrique. How do you figure two years of retention on Buch is LESS? That extra retention costs the Oilers a 2nd.

PHI just got a fifth for retaining $2,475,000 which is much more than what i am asking for here. Taking that into consideration a fifth is clearly fair for retaining almost half that amount even with the extra year. The most u would get retaining salary like this is a fourth.

Actually, it was Calgary who retained $2,475,000 on Hanifin. Philly retained $1.2m for that 5th. So your arguement holds no water. Hawks definitely don't do it for a 4th either.
