Why not just extend Lindy? He won't be expensive and yes he's had a rough season but he's still a good player.

If I'm the Kings I'd reject that trade I'd much rather have Anderson than Lindgren, also kakko doesn't move the needle enough for it to make this trade even.

Kings top-pair shutdown defenseman signed for 7 years at a discount is not for sale, and Kakko and a rental wouldn't be the price if he was.

Kings aren’t trading a future potential captain who has a steal of a contract.

He's a good player, I just think the wear and tear on his body is starting to show and would rather trade him now than extend him to a Girardi type contract (which it would be 2-3 years down the line). My thought is he may ask for more than Andersson makes (my guess is $5m) and he just won't be worth that in 2-3 years if he keeps taking the beating he has. They get a solid replacement in Andersson and also could potentially get a mid round pick with the overall packages being swapped. Kakko and Turcotte have both underperformed and I could argue Kakko does have more value, but getting rid of him was more since we have Perreault and Othmann ready to make the jump and Cuylle playing well.

Lindgren is an RFA, not a UFA. Not a rental FYI

My view was that Lindgren and Andersson are close enough in value and Kakko has more value than Turcotte at this point in time (both have underperformed but Kakko is at least in NHL and Turcotte has had quite a number of injuries). If it doesn't go through it doesn't go through, just an option

I mean fair enough I get it. The contract is enticing which is why I "made the trade" in the first place

Lindgren is not the player he used to be the wear n tear got to him and a guy like Anderson is tough to find especially on a sweetheart deal he has.

Kakko is average and if you are going to trade Anderson you better pay up more than Lindgren and kakko as they are two underperforming pieces.

I'd rather have Anderson who's contract (I'm assuming) will be more favorable.

No way LAK is accepting that. They have Anderson for 7 more year at a contract that is an absolute steal and he is the kings top shut down D-Pair with Doughty. For that reason he seems to be untouchable

Lindy's only 26. Yes he's a Girardi type but I think he still has some gas left in him.
