24-25 Senators Dream Team Norris Retires

Created by: dimeohs
Team: 2024-25 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 8, 2024
Published: Mar. 8, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This team is a legit cup contender.

Notes:

- Brossoit can be a starter and leaves Hellebuyck's shadow to prove himself with a monster deal with Ottawa. Sogaard is for sure good enough to be a backup, and it helps his development being in the big leagues behind a solid goalie like Brossoit.

- Ottawa trades Forsberg because they don't need to spend that much on a backup and buys out Korpisalo (congrats on $4M/year passive income!)

- Ottawa trades Chychrun for a depth youngster in Frost, defensive RD prospect Bonk (keep the Bonk's in Ottawa!) and some picks.

- Signs Montour as 1RD, bring Durzi and DeMelo into the mix, you now have easily a top 5 D-Core in the league.

- Berggren wants out of Detroit to prove himself, so you give him a small bridge deal to prove he is HIMOTHY, and play him with HIMOTHY.

- You don't need to spend money on the fourth line. Bring up Crookshank, Ostapchuk and give Kelly an extension he deserves, and boom, your fourth line is a line full of ****in spark plugs who give it their all every shift.

Does this happen? No, but it would be VERY nice.

There's no way the Flyers would move either Bonk or Frost in a deal like this. They'd probably be willing to part with 1sts/other prospects (other than Michkov)/a winger or two in a Chychrun deal, and if that's not enough to get him they just wouldn't be interested

No reason for Detroit to do that.

Berggren wants a change of scenery. Details of trade might change but it seems as though Berggren wants out.

Not disagreeing with the value, but I doubt Detroit has any interest in picks.

Yeah, Ottawa could throw in picks to even the scales. I would rather Bonk than Frost anyways and if it comes down to it, I think Ottawa would too. Bonk has a LOT of ties to Ottawa and would be a fan favourite.

Hmmm. I wonder what Ottawa could give then instead of picks. We don't have the deepest prospect pool but we could give someone like Lassi Thompson, Tyler Boucher, JBD, Jarventie, etc etc.

Probably only way we trade him is in a package for a better player. He should get a roster spot next season and we will need his cheap cap hit.

That's kind of missing the point, Bonk is the 2nd best prospect on a rebuilding team and Frost is the only U25 Center in the entire organization with any sort of upside at all. Philly wouldn't even begin consider moving these guys unless it'd be to help acquire a young potential 1D or 1C, and those are seldom available on the market

I doubt that it'll be a lateral trade (and that's being generous because those guys really aren't of any significance). If Berggren goes to Ottawa, it's likely apart of a Chychrun package.
