Between Mailloux, Barron, Reinbacher at RHD, I think Mailloux has the highest offensive upside. I really don't think they should trade him.

Habs are not trading the equivalent of 3 1st round picks and a 3rd for Zegras. Take out Mailloux, Ylonen and the Jets 1st. Then top 3 protect the Habs 1st and add Farrell

Both of these trades are awful for MTL.

2024 1st (MTL) + Ylonen for Zegras could be something to consider if you are MTL. Adding Mailloux and another 1st is a huge overpay.

Looking at the other trade, Vesalainen has no value (or little to none) and Barron alone is worth more than MTL's 2nd round pick that you are trading for. Adding in Armia (who has bounced back after being sent to the AHL), Harris, and a 2nd round pick is just terrible.

Jets likely decline. Armia is a cap dump, no use for Harris so it's basically mtl's 2nd for barron and a later 2nd and I don't really see barron more than becoming what colin miller is (decent 5-6 offensive puck mover) so not really worth it for the jets adding over 4m in cap for marginal players when we can use that cap to resign Monahan perfetti and demelo

Look, this team is 2024-25 so we're talking offseason here. This is also stupidly hypothetical because it's a bad trade. However I'll indulge...

"Armia is a cap dump". MTL has $11M in cap space in the team above, so there is no need to dump Armia. Armia at 50% retained would bring in a draft pick for MTL. Maybe a 3rd?

"No use for Harris". Harris too is worth a draft pick in a trade, maybe a 3rd or 4th it's hard to say.

"I don't see Barron becoming what Colin Miller is". Barron has 29 pts in 87 NHL games already at just 22 years old. That puts him 23rd in production for his draft class as a defenseman. Colin Miller wasn't even playing in the NHL until he was 23... plus Miller is a UFA, Barron in an RFA and will be resigned cheaper. As I said he is worth more than MTL's 2nd round pick alone.

So even if you just flipped every player and took out Armia (because you don't want to take on any $$$) and let's presume Barron for the 2nd is a wash (even though Barron is worth more than that 2nd)...

You'd be getting a 2nd round pick and whatever you could flip Harris for for free... and you would decline? That's kinda crazy to me.

It's all a moot point anyways, this trade makes no sense at all.

Nothing coming from Montreal is worth that high 2nd. Easy no for Winnipeg.
