Quoting: goodfella
We can agree he inherited a tough situation and more importantly we're going to have a team of young kids with no leadership.
I think it's important to build in age/experience layers and groups.
If Hertl and Couture stay you have two 1B centers who play 3 zones. They can also shoulder the load while the young kids figure it out and then take over.
We have no transition here. It's full stop and people just assume these kids will shred.
He also hired the worst coach I've ever seen. To be fair, I've only been watching since the 90s.
People are praising the move. We're retaining for SIX years. For a 3rd line winger and a late 1st/glorified 2nd rounder.
You work your butt off to be able to go to games and now your dollars go to Hertl, EK, and Burns playing against you.
There is no accountability and his response has been "oh, I didn't realize people would be upset".
Oh 100% that statement he released was so dumb, I would have rather seen him say nothing than that.
I do agree with the major leadership issue problem which hertl would have been a great fit for, I didn’t like the retaining either, nor the two 3rds
I like getting the 2025 first in a deeper draft, and I guess we can just pray for a Vegas downfall, but I mean the more prospects the merrier, and it seems like this guy has a little potential.
With that being said, he’s no Hertl and it hurts.
When Meier was traded I saw this all coming, crazy enough I would have rather not done that and try to build around Meier Karlsson hertl and couture, I thought that could have been a good team when Eklund, Smith and others had their coming out party but when one fell I knew they all would.
I guess it’s better to race to the bottom than to stay somewhere in the middle
