JBD isn't especially good or valuable, but Ottawa can definitely spend 2mil on a better 3rd pair LD than Kulak in the summer

Probably, but I've seen players with better results not get qualified despite also coming off sub-1mil contracts. He can be replaced with a variety of similar options- some around the same, others older.

It's a trade I've seen a couple OTT fans post before and I hadn't seen much pushback before. As for your point, I disagree. Kulak is a very good 3rd pairing D and the only reason I'm trading him is because this team needs to get Broberg in. The retention is to make it more attractive.

Raddysh's offensive numbers are way down this year for sure. But his game has taken steps forward in other areas and he's still getting himself into good shooting areas. He's just snake bit this year. No reason not to sign him for next season.

Does he beat out Chabot, Chychrun or Sanderson? No? Than Ottawa has no use for him.

Given all the noise made about Chychrun being traded and the amount of times I've seen him traded here, I figured it was almost a foregone conclusion that he would be traded. That aside, hasn't Chychrun been playing RD this year?

He has been, yes, but not overly well. He's playing the right side because we're already overly stacked on the left. IF Chychrun is traded we'll just keep Brannstrom for the 3rd pair.

I’ll go against the grain here but I wouldn’t mind the Ottawa trade. Kulak @2m for another 2 seasons is good, he’s a vet with playoff experience which this team needs more of, and he’s still a useful player. They’ll likely trade Branny and one of Chychrun/Chabot anyway so this helps fill out the last spot. Sign a couple RD in free agency and the D looks a lot better. I also am not very high on JBD and don’t think he’ll be here long term so why not get something useful now back.
