Trades
1.
WPG
  1. Gill, Justin [Reserve List]
  2. Pulock, Ryan
Additional Details:
Pulock fills a need at top 4 rhd. Jets have many prospects that are looking more nhl ready than ever (lambert, mcgroarty, chibrikov rashevsky). Trading for a long term need in a legit top 4 dman with term addresses 2 issues obviously a top 4 dman but also a roster spot on forward for a prospect to take. Gill is a center prospect that is already 21 so he's there to replace some of the older guys on Norfolk and the moose.
NYI
  1. Ehlers, Nikolaj
  2. Stanley, Logan [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
I hate to do this but ehlers after this season is pretty expendable. He is never in the good graces of bones and is seemingly the only one held accountable to mistakes. He likely wouldn't resign as he can obviously get a better situation and ice time from another team. Nyi need more speed in skill in their game and ehlers goes a long way in suring that up. Obviously a deal can be agreed on before a deal happens so ehlers wouldn't walk after the 24-25 season. Stanley is included as someone who needs a change as well.
2.
WPG
  1. 2025 3rd round pick (BUF)
BUF
  1. Iafallo, Alex
Additional Details:
Iafallo is a local guy and would help buffalo in team depth and defense as he's an elite defensive forward just didn't fit with the jets. Could be a sneaky pick up to be competitive for the wildcard next year

The Casey for Byram trade makes it pretty clear the Sabres are after speed in an attempt to resurrect the rush offense and beat the trap. Additionally, they need a natural C who is a good faceoff guy. Nothing against the local boy, but hes not an elite skater and his faceoff percentage this year is like slightly higher than mine would be lol. Just not a good fit imo.

He would be a pretty good fit imo. Buffalo needs more defensively responsible forwards and iafallo can definitely be a 0.5 ppg player just really hasn't been a fit with the jets. He's great pker and could really be a buy low type player as he does just about everything good while being an elite defensive forward and pker. Feel like he'd be a great winger on a line with Krebs imo

Yea but we don't need a winger. They have to make room for like 3 of them coming through the minors as is. He wouldnt fit with what the Sabres are trying to do, which is get even faster. I dont disagree with him being a value add, just not for the Sabres.

I'm a Sabres fan too and I feel like he'd be a great addition guess we're not on the same page on him

I mean the proof is in their moves. You dont trade Casey for Byram just to replace him with iafallo. It's gunna be a centre with speed.

mentioned it elsewhere but basically anyone whose got the skill makeup to beat the trap. If we're talking pure skating speed like Byram, I guess maybe a guy like Morgan Frost? Idk if he'd sign an extension here but Sam Bennett fits that profile if Fla get cap squeezed. Kotkaniemi if they wanna buy low. Then there are slower guys who may be able to just play a trap game and generate offense like Noah Cates or Nic Roy. You could put them with Greenway and maybe Benson and get a nice cycle unit out there. I dont know if they want to do that though cause its an awful lot to ask of one line, might just be easier to load up on guys who can beat the trap.

well thats a little extreme lol. What if its for samuelsson? I mean if it makes you feel better I think that is among the "long shot" options. If I were betting money id say Noah Cates.

Maybe Bennett if he doesnt hate the idea.

I think Pulock with term is a little more valuable than Ehlers who would be in his walk year and need an extension. I also think that Gill has more value than Stanley's RFA rights. Basically, I think there's some good bones here but I think the value needs to be sweetened just a tad for the Isles.

Maybe swap Oliver Wahlstrom for Gill (he's useful to the Isles org for the same reasons you have here) and swap out Stanley's RFA rights for something a little more useful. Are y'all doing anything with Simon Lundmark? I think he'd be an interesting depth piece and help backfill the RHD depth with Pulock going out. So Pulock/Wahlstrom for Ehlers/Lundmark feels like where I'd want to settle.

Sabres just don't have room for forwards with out moving one, Skinner is the only one they'd move rn

I think if the Isles move a top-4 defenseman it will be Pelech over Pulock. That being said, both have full NTCs so it's probably a moot point.

Stadel you make great points while you and I are nearly always in lock step with each other, I have to agree with Howie on this on.
Okposo, Robinson and Olofsson are surely gone next season while Girgensons would need to accept a pay cut to stay a Sabre, adding three new forwards should not be an issue.
IDK if Alex is a Sabre fan, but if he is, could the uniform be enough for him to bump is output as it did for Tuch.
If all it cost was a third, from next years draft, IMO the Sabres should do it, but TBH, IMO the Jets would want more.

My parting shot, why did Tim Murray not approach Alex with a contract in April 2017?
Probably because he was trying to get Alex Nylander into the line up!
