Description
Alright, I am not trying to be a pain in the ass incessantly repeating myself. I just wanted to do a variation of my previous post:
https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/4973846

I was inspired by a comment raising concern about signing Stephenson and also raising a good point about signing Sillinger long-term.

I also haphazardly threw in another 3rd rounder to the Ferraro deal in the previous post and was curious where the lower limit lies for Sharks fans. To be clear, I'd still do the deal in the previous post, but I'm curious where Sharks fans draw the line.

Honestly, I like this for CBJ better than my previous post.

I think the Ferraro deal is fine in principle. however with Hertl traded and Couture’s career likely over Ferraro is most likely sharks next Captain and I can’t see us trading him, especially now!

I completely understand that. Those leadership qualities are a big part of the reason why I dearly want to see him in Columbus.

LA doesn't need anymore offensive Dmen. LA needs a big physical stay at home LHD that can PK and drop the gloves from time to time. They have their offensive guys in Clarke and Spence coming up with Doughty running the top PP at the moment. No need for Bean. Would also have to be a cheap Dman as they have little cap space and only 3rd pairing Dman available.

No issues with the trade, I just think if Ferraro doesn’t like specifically say he wants out, there is no way we move him as we need some form of leadership

I don't agree with this. I do think the Kings need a left-handed puck mover. Right now 100% of their LHD are stay-at-home guys. Don't necessarily think Jake Bean is the guy I would target, but I wouldn't dismiss a left-handed offensive guy as unnecessary.

I like Provorov, especially if Columbus retains another 50%. The Kings are already paying him $2M anyway. Not sure I'd be willing to pay a 1st round pick for him though.

Yeah, LA's retention really lessens his value to them. I think Columbus could and should get a 1st for Provorov, maybe more with retention, but that would probably have to be a deal for the 2025 TDL. For instance, if Sergachev goes down for TBL again, I can see them paying for Provorov at the TDL.

With the value of Ferraro increasing even further for SJ after the Hertl trade, the best Columbus can do is probably just to keep Provorov until the deadline and use him during the season to decrease the pressure on Mateychuk. Unless they get a great offer for Provorov or find a comparable to Ferraro that's available, obiviously. He is still a good player, but was brought in to CBJ for entirely the wrong reasons and does not suit their needs (solidifying the defense and providing veteran leadership).
