The future

Created by: GiggywithGibby
Team: 2024-25 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 11, 2024
Published: Mar. 11, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
There's a clear and present need for a veteran top 4 D, I think Roy would be a good grab, Peace could also work.

I think going ape in free agency isn't an option, so no Reinhart, unless we move out Strome.

Roy would be a home run.

Pesce would be a triple with one out.

If I were the GM, I'd marinate him in the AHL as long as possible and then he replaced Fowler when Fowlers contract falls off, and his waiver protection runs out.

Could use a defensive forward in the top 6, but that would require moving Strome.

Lindstrom I think has proven himself well enough to keep around, he's been a welcome surprise.

He was decent in MTL as well, you can’t ask more from this guy

Idk, this is a very top-heavy draft -- not sure mid-1st team's'll be interested in trading down. Not sure where Nygard is projected to land, tho.

Mid teens, but he's a candidate to fall, doesn't put up a lot of points. Keep in mind, ANA 2nd is currently 25th OA.

Rather surprised he was waived, honestly, don't know if he just wasn't fitting in the system or what, but his advanced metrics are great in Anaheim for a bottom 4 D.

Matheson Savard Guhle Harris Xhekaj Kovacevic Struble Lindstrom. Too many healthy dman at one point and Struble was way too good to send back down so they waived Lindstrom. They even sent Xhekaj in the minors because Struble is so solid. Biggest surprise this year is Jayden Struble

I, personally, wouldn't do 24 + 67 for like 18. Not in this draft.

I typo'd, the ANA 2nd is 35th OA, the EDM 1st is probably 26? 26+35 for ~15

I agree would definitely have to see how the draft starts out.

We could start by dumping McGinn and Johnston. I was excited to get McGinn but it's clear he doesn't mesh well with the system, and Johnston doesn't fight well enough to justify staying in the lineup as a goon.

I would get rid of them both as well from the lineup. I still like a Jones Lundeström Leason 4th line

OP suggested Detroit because he knows how much we love drafting players with hyphenated names lol.

Oh yeah less worse, but one that would I would have to wait to see who is available at 15 rather than just do it.

I suggested Detroit because Detroits pick is currently 16th, and Tankathon has Brandsegg-Nygard going 16th in their mock.

I would love the Habs to move up and get MBN but we don’t have an early 2nd round pick this year
