Initial Creation Date: Mar. 11, 2024
Published: Mar. 11, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Keeping rust because he is well respected and maybe the next Alternate captain. Malkin is not worth moving as he has not been good on the ice but would be a great leader for the younger kids. Bunting still here because dubas won’t move him. Letang stays as a mentor for the younger d. Try to play young players often. Tank for good picks and resign sid after his contract with the avs so he and the young guys can go on a run

That’s crazy because ek at 50% retained would bolster buffalo defense tremendously. In 2025 y’all will be very competitive which is when the pick is so it won’t be that good anyway

lol so you get rid of Sid but keep the rest of the core.

No brain eh

Sid and Nate Mack are great friends so he would like it there and he is the only one with any real trade value. Everyone else in the core would not get much on the trade market and are more valuable the pens team because of their time here and ability to mentor younger players. I love tanger and geno but hey are on bad contracts

I’d love to see MP on NJ but not for the 10 overall pick.
Counter with a 2nd plus a player (Bahl or prospect).

Your counter is pretty reasonable. If the devils puck is top 10 or 12 protected it seems pretty fair too

oh! Wow! I had no idea they were friends.

Crosby retires a penguin, you're a supposed penguins fan.

You know this.

Even if you’re right, Karlsson is old & doesn’t fit our timeline

The Avs won't be paying that out for Sid.

Yeah Sid spends his summers there training with Mackinnon. I would love to have him retire as a penguin but I do believe he will be wasted for the next few years here. If he could come back after that would be phoenomenal

I'd say the above is closer to 6x 1st round picks tbh (Mittelstadt = 2, 2 actual, 1 recent in Ritchie, LOC + 2nd = the 6th) in value. I think if Crosby does get traded (I don't think he will, but hypothetically speaking) Pens fans will be shocked, horrified and disappointed in the return if this is the kind of expectation. If we look at comparable superstar centres traded over the years at that age or close (and I appreciate eras are different) then the Gretzky to STL trade is probably the closest comparable. Then add in Crosby's control over destination etc and the Pens would be looking at a return looking more like a '25 5th, '26 1st, Jedlicka, Polin and one of Behrens, Gulyayev or Malinski, or something similar to that as a comparable to Gretzky's trade return if it were with the Avs. Now don't get me wrong, I think they could certainly get more (for example the Avs pick would be expected to be low end whilst the one in the WG trade was 15th OA IIRC, and another team might give more as well but again it depends on where Sid would go to) but these trades that are the equivalent of 5 or 6 first round picks in return are delusional.

Colorado doesn't even consider that. Pittsburgh won't be retaining 5 mil/yr for 3 years on Karlsson either.
