Watching this exact same roster again next year would be torturous. Bring in some kids or sign someone. Seasonal Affective Disorder is already real enough for some people, no need to compound it by a full season of Johansson/Zuccarello in the top six and that fourth line.

I don't see any way around it. Hoots will be the only new guy. Yurov and Firstov aren't ready. We have no assets we can trade but Rossi and I'm not giving up on him. Any signings will be 4th liners or depth defenseman.

I think it's 2023 part 2. Hopefully without injuries this time!

Why are you short-changing the cap situation next season?

It's already been confirmed that the cap is going up $4M this off-season to $87.5M, so that's literally $3M in cap space you just left unusable and off the table.

Our current open cap space this off-season totals $9.5M, without any additional signings or trades/moves. We would still have $3.3M in open cap space after all this happened.

Good to know! I hadn't seen that prediction on the cap increase. I thought they were still dealing with the shutdown losses. I'll use 4M increase going forward. A UFA left wing for 3M would be a pretty good pickup for this roster to replace Mojo

If you scroll down to cap hit statistics, it'll show various cap hit related information. Including the hard cap ceiling for the league.

Keep in mind that the $92M ceiling you'll see for two seasons from now is still only the *projected* cap ceiling and hasn't been confirmed by the league/Bettman yet. It's just the expected increase, is all.

The $87.5M cap ceiling for next year, is however, confirmed. Like I said, it's not as tight as you think it'll be next year. But it'll still be pretty tight. Guerin is more likely to just let it accrue over the season and utilize it at the deadline vs sign someone outright during the offseason.
