OTT declines.

OTT done want or need EK in any way.

OTT trading for EK makes as much sense as putting out a fire with gasoline.

No chance in hell ott is trading a 25 yo top 4 dsman for a 34 yo dman who dont what defense is

Why do people keep trading Karlsson to Ottawa?

Alfredsson is an assistant coach now and he was his mentor when Karlsson came into the league. so Friedman suggested Karlssson to Ottawa to reunite with him. On paper it’s a neat idea but in reality Ottawa isn’t a 34yr old Dman away from a cup so it doesn’t make sense unless it’s Karlsson demanding a trade to only Ottawa.

I doubt SJ moves any of their firsts for the next few seasons at least. Certainly not for what is going to be a worse pick this year versus a lottery pick next year
Edit: realized I misread the picks, disregard my comment

The question is whether San Jose believes that Pittsburgh is going to get worse next year and wants to diversify the risk. I wouldn’t give up a top 10 pick,.

The pick is top 10 protected so if we finish in the bottom 10 it is our decision not SJs if we keep this year's and give them next year's instead, at least that's how I understand it. I imagine we would do that bc it's a guaranteed Top 10 pick (bird in hand philosophy and also whoever we draft would be, assuming all things go well, ready earlier than a 1st round pick in 2025) although of course it's a very real possibility we are worse next year so it's definitely a decision that needs to be contemplated on. I can't imagine if we do finish bottom 10 we don't give them the 25th 1st instead but who knows but as far as I know if we finish bottom 10 it's our decision not SJs...

I’m kind of sad for Sid.

The Karlsson deal was a short sighted consolidation of assets

I feel like the Guentzel deal was a degree of underwhelming. I’m surprised you couldn’t have gotten more from Vancouver especially if Boston was involved. Neither org has a great system, but you went to the middle of Carolina’s prospect list.
