Bad Contracts only

Created by: BDHockey
Team: 2023-24 Custom Team
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 14, 2024
Published: Mar. 14, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not saying all of the players are bad, but I would say that none of their contracts are considered good. Bob= great goaltender, but is also at a price of 10 mil

How far does this team that is approximately twice the salary cap go?

Yep I misclicked. I wish there was an easier way to get rid of that.

When he's healthy and used properly I'd argue Laine is 100% worth that, he just doesn't fit well in Columbus right now and needs a re-start

Norris is a tough one, without injuries that contract is probably an underpayment

Laine is only 25 and is signed to that deal essentially through what could be the "prime" years of his career if he turns it around.

Johnny has already hit his peak and has 6 years left at 9.75 until he is 36, I'd neither of those deals are even that bad though. Both guys can still be 80+ point players even by next year if Columbus starts getting some much deserved luck health wise.

Why's Orlov on here? He's been very good. Not NEARLY as bad as guys like Trouba who you just left off, especially considering it's only a 2 year deal.

Yeah, but I guess it is one of those things where when you are paying north of 8.5 million, you can't afford for that player to get hurt much.

I'll admit I could have put Trouba on here. I forgot him. Its not so much that Orlov has been bad, but surely he is not worth 7.75...

Maybe not 7.75, but 6-7, yeah easily. Touch overpaid? Sure. Bad deal? Absolutely not. Trouba or Myers should be on here over him

I'd say Korpisalo's contract is worse than Bobrovsky's

Even I would admit Skinner should be on here.

But kotkaniemi takes the cake. 4.82 million for 8 years.... for nothing

i would agree with this. you can stomach paying $10 million a season for a goalie that can get so hot they go on an 11-1 playoff run at .942 SV% before the entire team falls to pieces in the scf

Yeah Bob was the weirdest one to put on here, because he can be such a great goalie, but 10 mil for a position that around the NHL can just flip the off switch at any moment is scary.

Man, that Dubois contract sure is the worst one Chevy ever signed. lol

There will be Jets fans wondering why Schmidt isn't on here. I think this is a good eye-opener for them. Schmidt's contract is far from the worst in the league, and he's still able to play up to the calibre of a $3-4M player. It's only really bad in the context of the Jets needing those extra couple million dollars to sign pending UFAs and Perfetti this summer.

It's like Wheeler's contract, it wasn't bad, it was just one year too long.

That, and he has less term remaining than Korpisalo
