Boston secures PLD and gets Jordan Spence as a sweetener to make it happen. England for Grzelcyk is a salary swap. I think both sides get something out of that move.

Ullmark brings stability to goal and ensures that LA could sign Byfield to a non bridge contract and keep Roy. It also opens up 3 RD for Clarke.

This required Blake to assume PLD needs to move and Sweeney willing to take him with the primary salary offset being Spence

PLD wore out his welcome in CBJ, then WPG and now LAK are considering moving him. $8.5 million for a guy whose barley cracked 60pts 3 times in his career and seems to come with baggage.....I'm glad we don't live in this alternate universe

There are very few scenarios that work for Boston and LA. This is one of them if you assume that Sweeney believes that PLD in Boston fills gaps.

I personally believe Boston is going to sign Elias Lindholm in the offseason and this deal is likely not going to happen. If it happened at the draft, I would assume it would be Spence or a pick and PLD for Ullmark.

This is the biggest thing right here, to trade for PLD would need to happen before Jul 1st when his NMC kicks in, if I'm the Bruins I want to take a shot at Lindholm in free agency.

Not saying it's impossible, but didn't even think about the idea of free agency centers Boston could go after.

But I was told the problem was that he wants to be on the big stage and that Columbus and Winnipeg were just too smalltime for what a star he is. What do you mean a team in a major market is seeing the exact same problems?

Boston should thank Ullmark every day for nixing that deal.

Literally every fanbase that PLD has played for is telling Boston to avoid him like the plague. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT DON

You're absolutely right. The guy got exactly what he wanted and his game hasn't matched what hew asked for. I hope Boston avoids him like the plague

To be fair, I don’t think it’s possible to justify a 8.5m contract playing the third line and that’s as much on Rob Blake as it is on him. He probably thought he’d beat out Danault and that probably wasn’t realistic. I never understood why LA traded for him and he signed in the first place

The reality is Don Sweeney has forgotten more about hockey than the combined knowledge of this thread and frankly doesn’t seem to care one bit what bloggers think about a trade. It would be a risk, but his primary strength is he’s decisive.

Again, I think Boston is probably one of the top destinations for Elias Lindholm and they could secure him plus a pick for Ullmark. If this is revisited during the draft, that would probably be a consideration.
