Very fair offer for Boone IMO, but he's still unavailable/not being moved. Even under a new GM, I don't think ownership would allow it.

Why do I keep seeing all these crazy overpays for Boone Jenner...am I missing something? I can't imagine a 40 point scorer (average) is worth remotely that much.

Not trying to be a smart ass or anything but how come Boone Jenner is valued so highly? I feel like I'm missing something. If the Sabres truly offered that for him I feel like CBJ would HAVE to take that no?

He's pretty much a unicorn. He's not much of a point producer but he's good at faceoffs and can play literally anywhere in a forward lineup as needed. He plays just as well with Johnny Gaudreau as he does with Mathieu Olivier. He's team captain and holds the franchise record for games played. Columbus as a franchise doesn't exactly have a lot of highlights, and a reputation for being a place guys don't want to play so the fact Jenner keeps signing undermarket deals to stay means something. Plus add in the fact everyone from Jenner himself to the front office to ownership doesn't want to move him... it would take an egregious overpay to convince them.

I do think it's a big overpay but from what Columbus fans and media say about what he's worth this is a package that would make them think at least. I think he's a good fit for Buffalo so I can stomach giving that much up

It's like the perfect storm of factors.

1. Captain and rare leader on a very young team
2. Center on a team that has and is lacking them, in a crazy center market
3. Unique game (incredible net front goal scorer, defensive-minded, wins faceoffs like a beast, and is really tough/gritty)
4. Amazing team friendly contract with term (which he signed specifically to stay in Columbus)
5. Can play anywhere in the lineup and not look out of place.

He's not a superstar, but he is a combination of basically a bunch of little things that are great and add up, with no real negatives. That, plus specifically choosing Columbus and being the captain, makes him internally even more valuable. It's not so much that his trade value is absurd on his own, it's that the package you'd have to offer to pry him loose from Columbus is absurd.

He's literally our Sidney Crosby, without obviously being that caliber player, having the accolades, or the team success (franchise GP leader, captain, top-3 in franchise goals and points all-time, etc.).

Gotcha, that makes more sense, appreciate the feedback!
