Maybe it’s not necessary, but a savvy move to flexibility and not move back a ton.

They don’t need to move anything with Faksa to ship him out, there will be teams willing to take him on for a late round pick. He is a defensively elite 4th line center who can be moved next deadline with salary retained for around $1.6 mil. That will be valuable for a contender come TDL next year.

I don’t know much about cars, but I feel as though a WCF first round draft pick is not exactly a Ferrari.

Yeah. It's not about Ferrari. It's a metaphor. But if you'd sell you top asset to move a 4C, metaphor might be too complicated foe you.

Certainly, if the stars were moving a first for future considerations I would agree with your assessment. In this case they are moving back ~half a round and picking up another later draft choice. Leafs did something similar with Mrazek so acting as you have is childish at best, ignorant at worst.
