Not even remotely close to moving Gallagher's contract.

He’ll have two years left at that point. It’s close

It’s not close because one of the inducement pieces you are adding, Tuch; can walk as a free agent in August, so he may not even belong to the Habs. Take out Tuch and add a 1st round pick and the Hawks may have an interest.

      1. We aren’t paying trading a top 10 pick for a 37 years old Sidney Crosby. Not gonna happen.

      2. We aren’t paying to offload Anderson’s contract when we have the money to keep him

      3. We don’t have a logjam at RD. In fact, we lack RD

      4. Gallagher cost more than that to offload and we can afford him anyway

      5. AVS are keeping Rantanen at that price

      6. Stamkos is rumored to sign a 3x5m extension soon

      7. Ullmark isn’t signing for 4,5m. Try 7m (we even have the cap space to afford him). Also, Primeau-Monty is good enough

      8. Xhekaj isn’t getting more than 2m

      9. Guhle and Slaf are signing long term deals

Imagine signing Rantanen (to a ridiculous contract) and put him on your 2nd line LOL

No. It's not. That would still take a 1st round pick. Farrell and Tuch put together are not even close to being worth a 1st round pick, and CHI doesn't want them anyway.

Sharks have a logjam at RD too, but we'd move some out for Barron. Anderson fits SJ too. Deal!

Who in their right mind, as a bottom 10 team, would trade three firsts, one of which is likely Top 10 and another a strong possibility to be, for 37 year old Sidney Crosby?

Quite the double standard there in Montreal. You charge a 1st to take Monahan's contract, but refuse to recognize when your own contracts are even worse than his was at the time... CHI has positioned themselves for this very purpose, to capitalize on teams with bad contracts. If you don't want to pay the price, then just let him play out his contract. Maybe Kent Hughes can find some sucker to take these cap dumps off MTL's hands, but it won't be CHI.

You REALLY don't get it. There's zero chance an Allstar like him would sign for only 3 years.

You are offering him $31M (heavily taxed) when he's worth more than $88M. You are nowhere close to sign him, even if he wanted out of Colorado, which he wont.

What is your objective? To win a Stanley cup or pleasure yourself to crapshoots who have little chance of really making an impact.

Yes. Adding a couple late 30s stars that are currently on a non-playoff team to a team that is currently bottom 10 will make them Cup contenders. sarcasm
