NOOOOOO

Ok, I just wanted to get that out of my system. But yeah the Sens wouldn't do that trade.

Right now both Joseph and Boucher have positive value for the Sens so there's no reason to trade them for a random prospect.

joseph for sure, but boucher? haven't seen him play at all this year but he looks to be a pretty abysmal prospect

We're not trading Joseph for a non-player

Joseph's not a cap dump anymore, so that's going to be passed on.

Boqvist has some bad injury history and given that we already have a few injury prone defenseman, losing Brink and Frost for what may just be Johnson, who hasn't yet performed to the same level as Frost or Brink, would hurt a lot.

That is in fact true, but still doesn't explain why we'd give him away for free.

There's probably a timeline where the Blues accept that, but we're not in that timeline yet. A couple difficult things would need to happen first.

he’s not good but that doesn’t mean he has negative value, he’s just a prospect

For a team currently in a playoff spot and likely looking to make the playoffs next year, too, losing two young roster players with decent upside (middle-6? top-6 if PHI gets lucky?) for a guy who OP has playing center but definitely isn't a center, and another guy who doesn't fit on the 3rd pair of most NHL teams would be...not smart.

For a team flush with middle-6 forwards (a few of whom are already at the NHL level and performing at similar levels to Brink and Frost on a bottom-feeder), trading a young D-man who's found a home recently on the top pair and a guy who's either going to be an elite winger (which the team desperately needs) or an offensive middle-sixer, but more likely the former given his NHL stints so far, would be...not smart.

This is one of those proposals that's interesting and might be close in value, but makes zero sense for either team, especially given how Johnson and Boqvist are deployed here.

Has Boqvist played top pair lately? Don't really follow Blue Jackets but just know he's had a long list of injuries, over thirty updates from CapFriendly, which I know isn't 30 injuries but more or less around 15.

It does look like Johnson is going to be a middle sixer at low and maybe a top 6 or even elite winger at best though. I agree though, this move just wouldn't make sense for either team. Its not the value that's bad, its just the roles that each team need counter act it. Given that we have Drysdale now who is great when healthy but unfortunately injury prone, bringing in another guy like Boqvist who also has injury issues just seems like way too high a risk and losing two middle six guys for someone who may also be a middle six guy but might be more seems like too big of a gamble in my mind.

When he's played in the past two months or so, he's most-commonly paired with Werenski on the top pair. He's been unlucky with injuries, one stretch this year he was out because a puck hit him in the face on the bench. and it's probably just listed as "upper-body". Not really his fault, or even being injury-prone (which, he is). Bringing him in with Drysdale almost only makes sense if you're assuming one or the other is injured at all times.
