Trouba is fine. After this contract he will extend for a low cap hit and play 3RD. Kakko isn’t a bust by any stretch of the imagination other than people expect his to be putting up generational talent stats which he isn’t a generational player. Then the 2 prospects are decent pieces that will likely be moved at some point or on the roster

Why wouldn't NYR do this? Get Hronek for similar AAV to Trouba and he is way better. Garland>Kakko and Korczak is negligible and Sykora is replaceable

Outside of Trouba NTC… Trouba isn’t wearing the C because he can be replaced by Hronek.. sure we can compare goals and assists and jump to the conclusion that one guy is more valuable than the other but that’s just a hot take. Garland being > Kakko is like when this whole site said Tucotte was > than Laf or KAM. As for the prospects, they can absolutely be tossed away for nothing or kept or traded for assets. But to simply remove those prospects from the trade I’m still keeping Trouba and Kakko over hronek and Garland. Cornels payday wouldn’t fit the NYR defence either. Hronek will get 7-8M x 7-8 years while Trouba in 2 years time will be dropping to 3M as Schneider jumps to 5-6M. Unless you think Hronek is looking for a 4M deal to be 3RD for 7-8 years 😂. Then the 5M garland cap hit 🙄, meanwhile Kakko is 2-2.5M in those 2 years, developing and RFA still. If there was no cap and it was simple for a stretch of games rather than years and cap hit implications then sure.. your take would be right
