I don't think Barron is enough to move the needle for Calgary to drop more than a spot or two, especially if there is an Iginla available for them to draft themselves!

I don't follow prospects but, from what I've heard the draft isn't very deep this year so trading back that much isn't a great move but, who knows how high Conroy would be on Barron

Why do the Canes do that? Next year alone, LHD will be Slavin, Orlov, with Smith likely being the stop gap until Nikishin comes over. Assuming Orlov isn’t resigned, that only leaves the 3LD spot, which if the Canes keep Smith, already gets filled. Paying a 2nd for a guy that won’t get the playing time is a waste of assets.

Cool, well that just kind of enforces the thought that trading that far back for Calgary is a bad idea

Bad fit for Harris. We have 2LD that destory him in Orlov and Slavin, and Nikishin's less than a year away now.

Most Habs fans don't care about fit for the other side, they just throw random homer trades at the wall.

Trust me, you've never seen Montreal homerism until you see an entire fanbase completely flip their opinions on a player because he signed an offer sheet. But this has though, and it's not unreasonable. Trying to use Harris to move up makes sense, maybe not this far, but there's logic to it. It's just a bad fit.

If Iginla was available at 12, why would CGY trade back? Draft the best player in our teams history's son? Makes sense to me
