All three guys are 30 and under. That's not old. They're not signed for longer than 5 years.

As for the roster issue, Treliving needs to have a chat with Tavares about going on LTIR prior to the season. Leafs will have the flexibility to add more free agents, call up guys, trade for an impact player. That's the only solution either than trading him.

Haven't we seen Brodie, Tavares and Holl decline in there early 30s. DeMelo will be 30 when he signs his next contract, the other two 29. What nonsense, telling a player to go on LTIR. And since Tavares won't be waiving his NMC, trading him isn't an option. The cap is what it is. Trade restrictions are real. Why not a 18 or 19 man roster if it helps the cap?

Canucks fan chiming in on Zadorov; I've loved what he's brought to the team this year and I hope he extends in VAN. BUT, I'm not that high on giving him a 5m AAV. To me he's an excellent #5 that can play solid #4 minutes with the right partner. The hope would be he signs for closer to $4m and he gets chemistry with the right partner on a 2nd pair.

Zadorov is a bit of a unicorn in the league. He actually plays to his size, unlike a lot of guys who are big for nothing. UFAs also tend to get overpaid by a 1 million, especially Canadian teams. When you factor that all in, 5 million is reasonable imo, plus with the cap going up UFAs will demand more.
