I'd say a lot has to go right for this team to make the playoffs next year; bounce-back from Zegras, the kids to make a big jump in development, etc. Could happen, but it's a pretty big swing. Toffoli and DeMelo would be solid adds, and even if they are a little overpaid here the Ducks can afford it under the cap.

Anaheim has alot to be excited about, but they aren't there yet.

Their division is also loaded.

Welcome to CapFriendly in general and the avid group of Anaheim faithful in particular!

Just as a technical matter, Vaakanainen's Qualifying Offer is $945,000 and Lindstrom's is a surprising $997,500.

I don't think we'd have to pay Tyler Toffoli more than $4.5 million, especially if we're giving him 4 years. I'd love to add DeMelo, of course.

Drew Helleson might be as ready for prime time as Tristan Luneau.

Go Ducks! applaud rock on

Three of your top-6 forwards have a total of 26 goals this season. All three are likely to be good NHL players at some point, but asking them to carry a team to the playoffs next season is a heavy lift.

You think we could see both Helleson & Luneau in next year?

Sources say Toffoli is looking at the Killorn deal as a benchmark. He is not signing in anaheim for 4.5x4 (If he was willing to sign that, NJD wouldn't have traded him)

Well, if that's what he wants, and Verbeek is willing to give it to him, fine. I just find it odd that from $4.6 million he took a cut to $4.25 million (for four seasons, mind you) but now is going to get north of $6 million.

In the 2 years before signing that deal Toffoli had
150 games, 37 goals, 78 points

In the last 2 years Toffoli has
147 games 64 goals, 122 points.

His production is much higher than it was last time he was up for a contract

COVID happened. Nobody was getting big contracts in the 2020 offseason.

Not odd at all his production slipped a nit after signing the 4.6M deal. so took less on the next contract. He is now coming off a 73point season in Cgy and is at 49 with 15 games to go. as well as those being back to back 30+G years. agents and teams will tell you the last 2 years are the most important in negotiating. These Numbers scream raise.

Thanks everyone for the replies. The Toffoli contract is an overpayment but one the Ducks could afford to make given their cap space. Like others have mentioned this is predicated on the kids making a solid jump, including Luneau, who is a big question mark. Ducks could sign another RD like Chatfield but wouldn’t want to block Luneau if he is ready.

What do you reference for QOs?

When you click on the player's name, either from within a signing box, a trade box or on the lineup, it brings you to what I call the Player's Home Page. The first information is personal (age, birthdate, birthplace, nationality, etc.). Below that is the Current Contract. At the bottom of that info, in dark printing against a dark background so that it's easy to miss, is the Qualifying Offer number.
