Byfield wouldn't do that. He'd bring that offer back to the Kings and sign for 8 at that cap hit.

If Blake decides to sign Roy long term + extend Arvdisson + get an expensive goalie (which could all happen before july 1st) then yeah, I think you guys could become exposed to a Byfield OS. Blake might want to offer him a bridge deal instead, which could bring another Zegras situation

You've got priority all wrong. None of those take priority for Blake over what Byfield's next contract is. The rest of the pieces will fall after as they may. Even if that means losing Roy and/or Arvidsson.

Aside from the extreme likelihood of Blake deciding to match that offer, what happens to you on July 1, 2025 if he doesn't?

Kaiden Guhle $6.25 million x 5 (one first and one third) plus Jayden Struble $4.25 million x 5 (one second), or

Juraj Slafkovsky for an amount similar to the Byfield offer.

But we all know you're just floating this idea for fun. And it IS fun!

Habs dont have capspace issues

2024: Pearson, Alzner and Edmundson = 5.8 million save

2025 Armia, Savard, Petry and Allen = 11.2 m. Save

2026 Price 10.5 save
( and that probably gonna that year habs will try to move Gallagher and Anderson ) trade or buyout

And the cap hit will be probably higher
