Drury would be a great 2C for a tanking team.

He was just a great 2C for a Stanley Cup contender... plus he's still only 24. 2C upside is unlikely, but not completely unreasonable.

Carolina probably pass though. Robertson is fine, he's not needed but a fine player. But the extra picks are what break this. Drury for Lily would be interesting straight up though

He's played a tiny sample for a team without an identified 2C. Or else Kotkaniemi would be playing there. Drury averages 12:01/game. There's no evidence he would last long term as a 2C required to play 18+ minutes game. That's a massive upgrade in role. He might be a late bloomer. He might also be a depth center and nothing more because 24 is when NHL forwards are usually at their peak not still developing. He wasn't dominant at the AHL level and doesn't have especially encouraging metrics this season.

His metrics are fine, and he was playing in an elevated role because of his production. He went pointless for the first 20 games of the season and has scored at a little better than 0.5 PPG since. In a system where the defensive demands are MUCH more relaxed like Toronto, he'd flourish

Hey if the Canes are considering moving Drury I’m sure the Habs would be more than interested.

I think he has the tools to be a great 3C, but yea a 2C is a bit of a stretch. If he was a sure-fire 2C, the Canes would be better off keeping him anyway.
