Sharks decline.

Detroit has to pay RFA's Seider and Raymond big dollars this summer.

Plus re-sign Kane and a UFA RD like Roy.

Pens would likely have to take a contract back like Fabbri, Maatta or Holl.

Well maybe not Holl.

He'll likely be bought out.

Dubas loved Holl in Toronto.

Don't be surprised if Dubas signs him cheap after he's bought out.

I think the pick is stating the penguins keep their 2024 that was top ten protected and the sharks get the 25. So they can't decline lol

I like rust but I don't know how he'd fit, the money is going dry this off-season

there is 0 chance you will ever get Rust, especially for that return.

Rust comparable is Anothny Mantha... and Rust is better and has a better contract. So youre looking at 1st + 2nd min

So he's lazy as **** and shows up once every five games?

Yzerman traded Mantha for a reason.

It’s the worst comparison I’ve ever seen. Rust is a clutch cup winner who scores in big moments and is known for consistent play

It’s silly how many sharks fans don’t understand conditional picks.

If Detroit, who was allegedly interested in rust at the deadline, can’t give up a second for Bryan rust then they should fire their GM asap. That’s an insane deal I was offering

It's silly how many Pens fans think Video game trades are reality.

Yeah but Red Wings fans are fine keeping a 35 year old Kane but Rust is apparently too old.

You're right

Dubas would never make that offer.

I've never heard anyone call Rust "lazy."

Most Red Wings fans believe all players over 30 are washed up and have zero value.

Except Kane of course.

It’s not a video game trade you literally have no say in the matter. The pens hold full control of whether or not the puck gets bounced to next year. Sorry bud

To be clear Mantha is just the closest trade comp #s wise. 1st + 2nd + prospect is the ballpark price for a player like Rust w/ term. 2nd + 4th is a massive underpay.
