Personally I think that Lundell has hit his ceiling. and I think trading Gushchin would massively backfire.

I don't know that Detroit is throwing away a 2nd round pick to get rid of that Holl contract, especially if they're taking a contract back

As being likely the originator of this trade, I think it's worth while IF we need that extra cap. It very much depends on the Raymond and Seider extensions and then go from there. What's the price to re-sign Kane? Can we add Matt Roy/ Brett Pesce and how much do they cost? How much of a roll do we want Petry to have on the team? If Petry keeps declining, then I would rather him as the 7th D who could swap out with Burroughs. With Burroughs, his contract can be easily buried without penalty, obviously risk losing him on waivers but if he is getting sent down then whatever, no loss. His cap hit is also basically the same as a Holl buyout. So all in all, we would still have the cap flexibility of getting rid of the whole Holl contract, plus have a little bit of insurance on the back end with a player who's play style is lacking on a Red Wings team.

I agree with @Lancebmx. A 2nd to take Holl and we get a physical dman that will keep Chariot on the left side.

Totally agree with this. I feel he’s at his max in Florida
