Hawks Draft redraft 2018-2021

Created by: BrianCampbell
Team: 2023-24 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 28, 2024
Published: Mar. 28, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If the Blackhawks had drafted perfectly with their 1st round picks from 2018-2021, plus one goalie pick- This might be what the team would look like, assuming prospects were allowed to develop as they should. Since Hawks draft perfectly, Cat stays and resigns, Kane resigns, and hawks are to good to get Bedard. Lets imagine Kane has surgery and misses entire season, hawks get 6OA instead of 1OA.

Any change in the earlier drafts would probably change their standings for later drafts. Not saying some changes cannot be made. But once you start getting better talent your draft picks may be higher and you may miss out on Bedard

I know it's just for fun, but in all likelihood...this team doesn't finish 3rd-last in the league last year if they made every pick perfectly and developed them to this point, so Chicago doesn't likely land Bedard.

All things considered, those "misses" aren't so bad. Chicago is still going to end up with a solid NHL player from most of these swaps.

Agree, that's why I only went back a few years. But you're correct. Also gotta think if they draft better they dont trade Cat and maybe resign Kane. Crazy to think of the ifs and buts

The two obvious "misses" were Boqvist instead of Dobson in '18 and Reichel instead of Mercer in '20. Those were both total head scratchers at the time Bowman made the picks. Reichel especially was a big reach at #17 overall. The others at least made some sense at the time. Boqvist and Reichel were just baffling choices.
