Top line William Carrier is a joke right?
Also Cozens is worth substantially more than Rossi...

lines are balanced not ranked by each position. rossi for cozens can just be the base for the trade. Although I really don't think DC is much more valuable than Rossi

You can’t be serious about that. This is the first full season since his draft year that Marco Rossi has even played. And in a decidedly down year for Dylan Cozens, he is still scoring more points than Marco Rossi right now. Add to the fact that he is locked up long-term, and as the cap goes up the amount of money players like Rossi can demand will exceed what Cozens is being paid.

So Rossi is way worse than Cozens but you don't want him because he's going to get paid more?

Long-term contracts are signed because of the perceived future value of having a player locked in for less money than comparable players at the same time. If Cozens returns to point per game status next season when the cap goes up, other point per game centers will be asking for 8 or $9 million, or more. I don’t want to trade for him if it’s going to cost you a better player for one, and Buffalo doesn’t really need a potentially expensive third line Center or they might have kept Mittelstadt, who is arguably still currently better than both of these guys.
