Instead of giving up 3 firsts, and a former first, why don’t you just keep that pick if it is 6OA? There would still be good players on the board, depending on where you have guys going. I think you would at least get a guy like Helenius, Eiserman, or Catton. Of course some of those guys may go top 5, unless they choose a defender, but all three forwards will be pretty good, especially Catton imo. I guess it depends on what all you want…

I feel like if MTL trades up to 2 they aren't going to take a guy who is several years out. They will take a guy like Lindstrom who will be able to join the team pretty much immediately. Habs are getting to the end of their rebuild, they need immediate impact imo.

Because Helenius, Eiserman, or Catton arent as good as Demidov and the Habs dont need those 2 extra 1st rounders

Demidov is as mnay years out as someone like Lindstrom. Dev will be just done in Russia instead of NA

Assuming that Montreal is between #5 and #7, then you should only have to trade up to #4 to get either Demidov or Lindstrom because Celebrini will go #1 and I think that Levshunov will go to Anaheim.

That's assuming he doesn't sign another contract with a Russian team which is still possible.

Yes a player would rather make a 10th of the amount in the KHL over the NHL

Well that’s debatable. Demidov is good, no doubt about that, but is he that good to give up that much? I think you may be able to get away with getting him at 3-4OA anyway, depending on who is picking where.

I think the Sharks do that if they fall to 2.

In the NHL the max he can make is like 950,000 for his first 3 years. There is a reason some guys like Yurov are planning to stay an extra year in Russia when they could come over and sign. Because they can make 3,000,000 a year in Russia instead.

Keep in mind that excludes performance bonuses. Bedard's contract includes 3.5M in potential performance bonuses in addition to the 950k salary.

Very doubtful WPG falls to 20th overall as Toronto and Tampa would both need to pass and they play each other multiple times down the stretch. There are only 8-9 games left.

The Jets pick will be between 22-25 if Jets don't get past the 2nd round. Habs arent falling below CBJ and they arent catching the Pens/Sabres. Its Yotes/Sens/Habs at 5-6-7

I really dont think trading up to 2nd overall is worth it. Celebrini is far above the rest. There's a clear fall off tier. There are multiple top6 forwards with size you can find in the low 20's and around 5-7 overall with the Habs pick.

Iginla+Sennecke > Demidov

I think they trade that Jets 1st round pick with a defensive prospect for actual top6 IF they dont get their guy in the draft. Someone like a Lundell.
