If the Sharks don't win the lottery, that pick SURELY aint going to a Canadian team.

Probably Ottawa. Celebrini is the clear number 1 and has a good chance of being an elite 1C.

Honestly this seems fair. Ottawa doesn't need a center but I guess they could move Grieg and Pinto both to wings, and what happens if Norris can get healthy. If Celebrini is as good as advertised than maybe they make a trade or do move the others to wing. But with that logjam of great young centers they have it would be wise to trade off the first overall

I disagree, Celebrini is way better than anyone else in the draft so trading him just because we don't need centers right now would be insanely short-sighted.

If the Sens got the 2nd overall pick, I'd be open to trading down though.

I feel like trading down and taking Demidov and getting another selection in the Top 15 would be worth trading back from 1st.

Based on skill alone Celebrini and Demidov are very close. The only issue is the Russian situation.

I would say I would rather have Levshunov and Helenius than just celebrini. While we certainly need another elite forward in pool a #1D is arguably a bigger need for us because we would have Musty Smith XXXX
Eklund Helenius XXXX
Bordeleau Bystedt Halttunen
Guschin Edstrom Robins
Muk Levshunov
Furlong Havelid
Cagoni Polkhamp

the gap between Celebrini and whoever could be taken at 2 is way too big for this to be worth it imo. you take Celebrini and figure the rest out from there 100% of the time

This is a scenario where Ottawa wins the lottery. The Sharks have the PIT 1st so they'd be giving the PIT 1st along with pick 2 to trade up to 1 for Macklin.

That's incredibly optimistic. I'm excited about several of our prospects but if 5 of them in our system now succeed I'd be ecstatic and you're discussing pretty much all of them succeeding.

Uhhhhh no i was listing our prospect pool to show where our holes are. you’ll notice no goalies are listed because of well obvious reasons.

The Athletic's pick values (not specific to any year) say pick 1 is worth 17.7 GSVA, 2 is worth 12.3 GSVA, and 12 is 5.5 GSVA. Based on those numbers the value is very close, though I wouldn't be surprised if Ottawa wanted a bit more (generally I've seen the trading up team overpay based on the Athletic's values).

I honestly can't decide what I'd want GMMG to do. Getting Macklin could be huge for us and I know he's a step above the rest of the draft class, but we could really use defense (especially on the right side) so getting something like Levshunov and a good player at 12 (maybe a Yakemchuk, Helenius, Iginla, or someone who falls) would be a great consolation prize. Of course if we win the lottery we could get Celebrini AND a player at 11 or 12 with the Pens' pick, maybe even trade up with either our 2nd or the Devils' 2nd to improve on the Pens' pick.

PIT is getting 1st OA nd no one else. just like how the NHL bedard to CHI they will give Celebrini to PIT because just like CHI era of toews/kane ended, Crosby/Malkin is coming to a end soon.
