Description
Thought process is trying to avoid the FA overpays/bidding wars of Hanifin etc
i think he'd develop in to a real nice player beside McAvoy and being 24 locked up for 6 more years, fits our timeline great with Sway, Pasta, McAvoy, Carlo.
I don't think it's a 1 for 1 type trade, but curious to see what is thought to be needed from both sides.

This all assuming no NTC's in the way etc

Sabres aren't giving up any pieces for a goalie. Especially one they could've just resigned

He left there because he wanted a better option for his development on a competitive team and he got it. He’s significantly improved since his Buffalo days and is coming off a two year stint where statistically he’s been the best goalie in the league during the regular season.

That said, I don’t see Buffalo as a team that needs another goalie option at this point. They have two options that they’ve tried and One has shown enough to keep trying. Also, I think Boston likely wants to keep a salary slot open for a center they tried to acquire twice this offseason.

He left for a team that was better and signed a 4 year contract with that team. Seems like he made the right decision.

Buffalo does not need a goalie. UPL broke out in the second half. Levi will only get better.

Not sure Ullmark would be willing to either. Buffalo will be bubble team for NTC.

By stating facts?

In the 3 years Ullmark has been in Boston … what’s Buffalo’s record and how many times have they made the playoffs?

Ullmark has won a Vezina and significantly improved.

What did Buffalo have to offer comparatively?

Ullmark “improved” bc the team in front of him got significantly better
He’s not a “Vezina” goalie on the Sabres
He’s an above average goalie who benefited from the great team defense that Boston plays

His GSaX /60 says a lot different. It’s great to come up with a narrative that makes you feel better, but it’s not true. People act like Boston’s defense is better than it is. The goaltenders have been carrying them this year.

Either way. Buffalo’s goaltenders have shown enough to make this a non discussion.

Not taking Samuelsson for his contract and he's injury prone.

He's playing like a top10 goalie behind a middling defensive team, that argument is lazy and irrelevant. Does he play like that on an awful team? I don't know, but he's doing it with a mediocre defense in front of him so thinking he's just a product of the team is wrong.

I never said he’s JUST a product of his team

1- i said he’s an above average goalie

2- i said he benefited by playing for a better team….
is Boston not better than Buffalo? ESPECIALLY defensively?

My points aren’t even debatable, so just stop

Well, you can make this argument about any goalie playing for a better team than Buffalo then.

Thank you. not all too familiar with him, but saw the age, style of play being labeled as shutdown, and size, and was maybe being optimistic for a Carlo 2.0 type.
Trying to keep ideas fresh aside from a Center or hanifin
