Preds pass. No need for Chabot with Molendyk coming up in a few years. As it stands, we already have 5 NHL LD and I personally would hang onto the 1st and go for Skjei in FA if we were looking around.

Other than deep set, communal delusion that seems to affect all SENs fans - how do you figure Chabot returns a 1st? Either he’s overpaid (5x$8M) for what he brings (+ his history of injury, especially recently) or he’s a legit top pairing dman? But if the latter, why would SENs trade him given they are one of the worst teams in the league? Bad teams tend not to move core pieces unless they are underperforming 🤔

I’d retort with the last year the SENs won the Cup but you know … you never have 🤫.

Gotta hurt when Leafs fans (probably Habs, maybe others) outnumber you in your own barn (literally, it’s a barn)

I do think Chabot could return a 1st, but with his injury history and high cap hit it isn't very likely. He would be out 1LD if he were consistently healthy. He is a better offensive D-man than Chychrun, and more reliable le defensively, and since it seems a relative consensus that Chych could get a 1st it stands to reason Chabot could too. The injury part, matched with his cap, does make it difficult to really get others on board though since the best asset is availability. Luckily a lot of Chabot's injuries seem to have been breaks rather than things that could be long-term (looking at you, Norris) so hopefully he'll bounce back next year and re-establish himself as one of the better puck moving defencemen. As for trading him, I hope they don't; I'd prefer him over Chych any day of the week.

What do you mean they play in a barn? Did they renovate the CTC since I was last there, or am I missing something? It isn't an amazing stadium, but honestly felt no different from the other ones I've been to.

Reasonable response; Chabot’s contract (aav & term) absolutely prevents a 1st.
And full disclosure - I dislike everything SENs related so hard for me to be objective in anyway. Luckily the team is not good and don’t look to be for a while - so they’re not a big concern.
I think the arena is garbage - mostly due to its onerous location but it is also 30 years old and showing its age. Just my opinion

He is a top pairing LD. But we have Sanderson and could resign Chyc plus Klevin is almost there. So someone has to go. Chabot 100% returns a first.

Chabot 100% does not return a 1st & 100% Chycrun does not re-sign. But time will tell. In the meantime, good luck at the draft 😎
