Rangers would want a young top 6 RW with term for Kakko and picks to even out

      Kaliyev+4th?

      Kaliyev career stats: 188gp 77points

      Kakko career stats: 294gp 117points.

106gp difference between them and 40points. Very similar players but Kakko has a higher ceiling which I believe a 4th round pick maybe a 3rd is fair enough to cover.

Why would you want to trade for Kakko when you can't even get Kaliyev into a top 9 role?

The idea after acquiring PLD was Fiala-PLD-Kaliyev. Clearly those three havent worked out. Seems like nothing works for Kaliyev so he most likely will be shipped out at the end of the season.

Use him to acquire a goalie because you will need one for next year

Rangers fans will say they want either a top 6 forward or a 1st round pick
In reality he really isn't worth either and the only value Kakko even has was the fact he was the 2nd overall pick 5 years ago. I do think some team takes a gamble on him though and I could even see a contender or a team like Chicago paying a 1st

Rather just keep Kakko at that point. Not like Kaliyev is gonna do any better on the rangers 3rd line

So fun idea for you and some fans may agree on a price that you’re comfortable paying but the issue is Drury doesn’t want/need to move Kakko. He’s being patient like he was with Laf. Kakko is going through the hottest stretch of his career as we speak. Now funny how fan bases said trade Laf for scraps and hope for the best since Laf was already chopped liver and written off yet here he is scoring 5v5 better than aho, Hughes, McJesus, Tkachuk, petterson, Kaprizov, Robertson amongst others. Most players that get pp1 time collect 1/3 of their points on the PP so now if you put Laf on the PP1 he would be putting up 85-95 points while scoring 40-45 goals. Now the hot take crowd has turned to Kakko who is still trending better than guys like Nichushkin was. Kakko won’t be moved unless a GM values him more than drury and I can guarantee that’s not the case

He doesn’t… he’s also been injured almost every season which has hindered his timeline

Seattle isn't moving either of those pieces unless Anderson is going the other way.
