I understand the opinion of Edmonton being underachieving but to say that a player like Mcdavid has a better supporting cast than players like Hughes, Panarin, Mackinnon or Pastrnak is just wrong.

Edmonton's d-core is pretty good at very best (Ekholm and Bouch being the only two top-pairing guys) and their goaltending is just bad. Bad management isn't something to blame Mcdavid and Drai for, they've dragged this team through tough times year after year.

Without McDavid, the Oilers are at best tied with STL in the standings. That is the definition of a hart candidate

Without McDavid the Oilers are drafting the next McDavid, not in a playoff spot. He's number 3 on the ballot this year.
