Depending on how much Hronek would want for the new contract, we would really consider. He'd be our top pair guy for at least 2-3 years, probably more

I’d want a better return if we move Hronek. The 1st is a good start (although I’d rather an impact NHL player, but we could flip the pick for that after) but Kovacevic and Struble don’t move the needle enough

Ya, I'd probably be keen on a center prospect.

I think Struble is solid defensively and prime for a decade plus solid NHL dman. Skates well and physical. Less fussed about Kovacevic.

Maybe replace Struble with Barron as this move will push him out to 4th on our depth chart

Would you call me greedy for suggesting WIN 1st + Struble + Barron?

I do like Barron but I still would hope the Canucks could get a bit better of an offer if they move Hronek. But I wouldn’t absolutely hate the WPG 1st + Barron + Kovacevic (or another piece if we only want to acquire one RHD in the trade)

If there’s a trade for an impact NHLer on the table I think I’d rather take that though

Nah you have every right to be greedy when trading a guy like Hronek. If I was Vancouver I wouldnt do it, Barron has massive holes in his game that he really hasnt improved on since joining the habs.

I fell like Newhoof¸k could make sense in a such deal

I agree with this, value wise, we might even be underpaying but it really depends on how much money Hronek wants to be paid

Joshua-Newhook-Garland could round out a nice top 9.

Nah, not really. Hronek is very good and the difference between Struble and Kovacevic isn’t that big

We could offer Matheson for a lateral move

The lateral move would likely be for a top 6 forward or another RHD, not a guy like Matheson who’s a LHD and also older (and also imo worse)

Also it wouldn’t work considering the history between Pettersson and Matheson

Yeah fair, we don’t really have that except Dach which we wouldn’t be willing to move.

I keep seeing Matheson and Pettersson history. What did he do?

Dach might also be too risky for the Canucks with his injury history. Definitely makes more sense for Montreal to keep him and hope he can stay healthy and live up to his potential

In Pettersson’s rookie year Matheson picked him up and slammed him to the ice after a hit giving him a concussion. The hit itself was fine but it was Matheson picking him up and slamming him to the ice after that was a problem. And Pettersson seemingly still has bad blood with him
