New GM? No, no, no, you must be mistaken you see, it’s still Kenneth Holland.

That won’t be near enough for Buchnevich, and Kane wouldn’t waive. Sadly I think Pesce is going to get too much, and we would end up being outbid. I personally think one of Matt Roy, or Dylan DeMelo could fit the bill though. Good defenders that are upgrades on Ceci.

No no no! Some Oilers fans (won’t mention any particular names on here) are adamant that Cody Ceci is a legit top 4 defenceman and not a cap dump at all! Trade him for a 1st!

That's not how cap dumps work. Ceci and a 3rd for future considerations.

Kenny had to get a 2nd cell phone just to field the offers of 1st round picks for Ceci

Ceci and Kane are worth more than that. Edmonton declines those trades.

edmonton is trading those two to get cap space the picks don't matter

for kane a good comp is the oliver bjorkstrand trade which is what i based it off

for ceci you just need to trade him without retaining, he has value as a third pairing d man but def not top 4

Demelo and Roy are great options, all the insiders think Kane has worn out his welcome and he always complains about being on the third line so he either waives his NTC in the summer or they trade him at the TDL when his ntc becomes a 16 team nmc, I truly believe he would waive to go to a decent team to play first line minutes

I don't think the oilers would have to trade a pick to get rid of ceci he has 3rd pairing value but if that's what it takes so be it

Maybe some team would give up a late pick but that team definitely won't be the hawks

Of course the return matters, those picks are assets the GM can use to acquire better players from other teams.

Kane and Bjorkstrand are dissimilar players in dissimilar situations. I'm not sure why you think that's a good comp.

Ceci is a top-4 defender, whether you like it or not. He's played top-4 for 8 years, for 4 different teams, for 7 different coaches. I'll take their collective opinions over anyone posting on this site all day, every day.

As such, he has value. He's not a cap dump. Especially since he has just 1 year left at just $3.25M.
