Why in the world would we exchange years of a young near-League-minimum-contract Arthur Kaliyev for one season of a 33-year-old expensive-even-with-retention Reilly Smith?!?

To acquire Laine, you need to come up with a package that is commesurate with acquiring a top line scoring winger. Whether or not you think he currently is that is irrelevant; that's what he's valued at in Columbus, and there's no motivation to move him for less at this time. The team is much better off hoping for a bounceback from his recent troubles.

I don’t know why people think we are in a cap crunch? If anything our cap looks ok right now as we are building from the inside with the draft instead of buying vets. It’s more value to Columbus for him to fine his game than trade him for scraps at this point.
