Heh. Didn't you suggest paying Tyler Myers 5M to play 3RD?

Svozil is realistically another year away, if not two. He’s a got third pair projection with upside. True, he will be blocked in Columbus behind Werenski and Mateychuk, but unless he’s part of a package for an upgrade elsewhere on the roster, I don’t know that I see them moving him. He’s a mid-tier prospect for now.

My hope is he looks good in a callup post-deadline 2025 after we've moved Provorov/whatever other short-term LD we have signed, and we can pencil in Werenski-Mateychuk-Svozil as the long-term, stable left side. A former 3rd-rounder who's still very young and already developing into what should be an NHL-level 3LD should probably fetch another 3rd as a return, but if that's the case, Columbus just keeps him.

would be shocked if the Sabres moved on from Novikov. Been really high on him since draft day, looks great in the AHL. I suppose for a bigger trade sure but I dont think thats realistic for the team at the moment.

On the surface, I agree. But one can only play so many LDs and you guys have about 63 of them.

Theyve publicly stated many times theyre down to play all LHDs. Likely stems from the luxury of two of them being 1st overalls who put up strong results on their off hand. Novikov is probably one more year away. Jokiharju will definitely be gone, Clifton probably and decent chance Samuelsson will as well. There will be room in the lefties only d-core, however ill-advised that may or may not be lol.
