That's cause Matthew he would only sign with x amount of teams, unless Brady does the same this offer isn't enough. Mercer/Holtz would have to be in the trade for Ottawa to even continue the conversation, sens need a RD so Marino will need to be in it too and while giving up a lottery pick sucks it is worth it for Brady

4 people bidding on a 2 million dollar house still gets a higher selling price than 10 teams bidding on a 1 million dollar house.

If another team wants to bid more than Marino+top 10 1st+Holtz they can go ahead. If Ottawa decides they want to keep him they can go ahead.

Holtz really hasn't proven anything and was drafted 4 years ago, sens need a RD so Marino would have to be part of the trade regardless, and you obviously need a 1st, might be a top 10 pick but no guarantee they even make the NHL

It is a fair offer, Mercer I am higher on than Holtz at this point but he is no Brady Tkachuk

When this was first opened up, I was thinking it was going to be Swayman and some other considerations for Tkachuck. Then I read the responses and decided that Ottawa’s GM would try to get a premium because of the name instead of the merits of the player (both are impressive, but I do think there is an inflation because of his brother)

I would consider Swayman and a secondary prospect or two for Brady. I believe Swayman and Lysell beats most plausible deals for him if it came to it. That might make a good offer for Keller too.

I would rather give up 4 1st round picks than give up a top 10 1st, John Marino, and Dawson Mercer. In a HEARTBEAT.

And i would not give up 4 1sts for Brady Tkachuk

I tried to be generous with Ottawa fans when I thought of a Boston deal and came up with Swayman+1st for Tkachuk AND Boston would have to take on the Korpisalo dump. Frankly I wouldn’t do that if I was Boston at all. Ottawa fans still laughed as if it wasn’t enough.

Honestly, I wouldn’t do Swayman for Tkachuck and the Korpisalo dump. I’d pivot to hoping that an extension would make Ullmark happy in Ottawa and discussing a Chychrun for Ullmark / Merkulov deal on terms of a discussion with Ottawa.

I have no idea if a long term extension opens up possibilities said to be on his no trade list. I’ve seen a lot of commentary about him saying no, but the parameters change when he can be offered an extension

well that's your opinion and fair enough since you are a devils fan. If the devils want part with those players than Ottawa has no reason to accept. Either it'll be that package or Nemec would have to be in the deal. Ottawa has no reason to trade him

They can keep him then. NJD has no reason to be overpaying for a guy at a position they don't need in a role they already have filled

Yeah, just no reason to do that. If we hadn't traded for Meier Tkachuk would make sense as a target, but there is really no reason for NJD to get both, especially with our other needs.
