Maybe the Sens would accept if that was Mercer and 10th or Holtz and 10th. But Stillman isn't getting that done. Pinto is still so young and yet so good. No chance the Sens give him up for anything short of an overpayment

Mercer is a year younger than pinto and despite that has nearly as many goals in his career as pinto has points. In what universe is NJD adding a top 10 pick lmao.

Its the fact that the Sens are not looking to get rid of Pinto. When I team wants to keep a player the only way you are going to get them from that team is an overpay

Pinto played half the games and had only 6 less points this season lol. I expect Mercer will bounce back next year tho.

Mercer for Pinto alone would be an overpayment.

Pinto over the last 2 years:

123 games, 29 goals 62 points

Mercer over the last 2 years:
164 games, 47 goals, 89 points

And again, mercer is a year younger

Okay and Mercer regressed and Pinto got better while being very good defensively. 41 games 27 points vs 82 games 33 points lmao.

Mercer is again a year younger:

Pinto at age 22 had 35 points in 82 games.

When Pinto gets a 27 goal season call me.

But hey, 41 game sample size where he was still on pace for sub 20 goals goes brrr.

It’s kinda funny it’s always Tkachuk or Pinto. 2 of the players that play the hardest and have the most size . These 2 are probably guys I’d never move without a serious overpayment

Pinto is way more rounded out as a centre. If you had to pick one to trade for and put at 2C I’m taking Pinto 10/10 times

Better defensively while on pace for 20+ points on Mercer, yikesssss.

Didn’t he play with Bratt and Hughes last year? He would be a huge merchant if that’s the case.

Pinto came back last year from a serious injury and took him a while to catchup . He was technically a rookie which should’ve been the year before but he missed the whole season

He played with Tatar and Hischier primarily. I can't remember a single time he played with Bratt and Hughes

All I know is Mercer had a pretty disappointing season so now would not be the time to try and value him in a trade.

Over the past 2 years, 162 games, and 2500+ minutes Mercer has played, a grand total of 5 minutes and 49 seconds were spent alongside Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt

And Despite playing 42 less games, Pinto has been given an extra 70 minutes on the power play.

Yep, I 100% agree, NJD should be using this opportunity to get him signed to as much of a bargain contract as possible.

I wonder if they go 2 years, 6 years or 8 years. Maybe they try a Batherson type contract with a little bit of cap inflation . Maybe 6 x 5.85 . Would he take that?
