I'm pretty sure both MTL and CHI say no to that trade.

Stop dumping players. There is no need to do it.

Why would Chicago say no to this?! They get a young NHL ready right handed dman and an injury plagued yet serviceable center half retained that is only under contract for one more season and all it cost them is to move back a 3rd from this year to the next year. Of course they would say yes to this trade but Hughes would have to be out of his mind to even offer it.

I think we just have a difference of opinion on the quality of the players heading the CHI. I understand Dvorak is a CHI native. So, maybe he can turn things around there??? IDK, big maybe imo and not really worth the risk. I 100% understand MTL not wanting to retain. Barron isn't really a needle mover. If the hawks made this trade, he'd just be in Rockford. The Hawks need a veteran RD that's physical. Is it the worst thing to have another RD in Rockford...no, not at all, but that's the reason for the trade. AHL depth because the hawks farm system doesn't have many RD in it at all.

Dvorak has one year left and we aren’t desperate for cap space. We can just keep Dvorak and hope he ups his value by the TDL, and then actually trade Barron for something

Without an injury in camp, Dvorak has no roster spot. I don't think Montreal wants to have an unhappy veteran on the bridge. Justin Barron will have to go through waivers next year, unless he beats Mailloux (he is more physical). I don't think Barron can fetch much on the trade market. The team simply doesn't have room for him. The CH does not take a salary in return and above all leaves room for maneuver to sign Slaf and Guhle without having to buy Gallagher or Anderson.

You don't need to pay to dump Dvorak is the question. So you can get more value out of Barron!
