You want Raddysh, he will likely be available in free agency. Hawks are not paying for Reilly. The question is: how much would they need to get paid to take him.

1. you didn't sign Broz.
2. what's the point of signing Olofsson. They don't need that. They are better off playing any number of prospects there.
3. the penguins need a capable 3rd pairing. POJ is useless. He's not a good defenseman and he can't PK. He needs to go so we can at least get a PK 3rd pairing.

A.) We are not paying DeBrusk $5.875 million for 5 years. He hasn’t earned that kind of aav.

B.) We are not running with 2, at BEST, backup goalies. In what world does that seem like a good idea? If Jarry is moved then Ned surely stays. Blomqvist is growing more and more ready for an NHL backup role as well. He had a great year in WBS. We won’t come close to playoffs if we are running with your above tandem.

C.) Viktor Olofsson is not the kind of player that this team needs anywhere near their roster. Hard hard hard pass. I doubt any team that is trying to compete would give him more than a 1 year deal at this point anyways. That is if they even find him remotely useful.

D.) POJ is a third pair defenseman. Graves needs to play like the 2nd pair defenseman that we signed him to be. It’s not uncommon that guys get a too comfortable for the first year after signing a UFA ticket. Hopefully he will play up to the standard this coming season.

Hawks aren't paying for Smith and retention means nothing to them

I get it. But, imagine what a hard working 2-way 40 point rental retained even further at a $1.25M cap hit could fetch at next years deadline. I'm not necessarily saying CHI shouldn't be asking for that 4th to be going the other way, but man... if he were to have a decent and healthy season in CHI, that could possibly mean more valuable assets for the rebuild. I don't hate it.

BUT, I also don't get what exactly is in it for PIT if they aren't moving the full cap hit. They are gonna need every bit of cap space they can get, if they want to make REAL additions and ice a contender next year. If not, what is the point of moving anyone? This might just be my opinion, but PIT is either trying to contend or they aren't, they'll need to pick a lane and go all in. Otherwise they are just doing things for the optics and PR.

I hear you & I’m not saying it is completely out of the realm of possibilities. However the rationale of grab this guy & flip him later for more is used to excess on this site . Ultimately for it to work you have to give the player enough ice time to be able to hit the desired levels. This limits the amount of ice time the team has to devote to the delopment of younger players. Hoarding picks is not a bad idea but it is important to develop the players you draft. Since Davidson didn’t really flip anyone this year, I don’t like the odds of him doing so next year. Hawks don’t need any help in the bottom 6. It is arguable if the need help in the middle 6 or not. They definitely need a lot of help in the top 6. I don’t see Reilly has the best option to help in the top 6, but that’s just my opinion.

For sure. I agree with all of that. I just think there are certain players where it isn't so cut and dry, and those are the kind of guys KD seems to be willing to give a shot.

Your not getting much for Jarry and that cap hit and term.
