You're 3.4m over cap and not a chance Matt Roy signs that low. Try throwing another mil or two at Roy and he would sign in PIT but even then you're 5m over cap.....

With the extra 4m in cap you're still 1.5-2m short for Roy putting you 1.5-2m over that cap if you want him.

Yeah. I like Norris, many people think he is an injury prone over priced player....like a number of young players at that stage of their career.

Can I get a straight answer? What is the projected salary cap next year?

Our best guess is that Matt Roy gets at least $5 million and probably for 5 seasons.

Our cap situation precludes us from exchanging a youngster coming out of his ELC for a 33-year-old bottom-6 forward with a $2 million cap hit. We'd rather spend up to $2.5 million for up to four years on the younger and far more familiar Blake Lizotte if we can.

He is pushing 30 and has not played 400 games yet. If he gets that $$, he will be on a constant trade bait board until he gets bought out. Pittsburgh can pay another borderline top 4/5th defensemen what I offered Roy. He is an NHL defenseman but with that said he is just a guy, not a game changer to argue 4.5 VS 5 million. Change the name for all I care, not going to lose sleep thinking Matt Roy is the final piece to get another cup.

Maybe if he wants to be somewhere specific. But if he hits free agency he’s getting 6 x 6

The OP clearly doesn't know who Matt Roy is.

-will any senators fan tell me what is erik brannstroms value? because he seems like a really fascinating player and i kinda want to see him to play with erik karlsson (in pittsburgh lol) and see what would happen. problem is, i havent heard jack crap as to what the organization thinks of him, what the fan base thinks of him, what the media thinks of him, what his trade value in theory is, or really anything else about him that isnt an analytics player card or his player page on nhl.com. his analytics suggest hes a good player. i dont know how true that is, nor do i know if ottawa would consider moving him.

all i know is that i dont want jake chychrun and have no interest in him anymore, and i would much rather roll the dice on a younger player that might be ready to step into a greater role that ottawa might not be able to offer.

-that bottom 6 group is still kinda mid. and as the kings have proven, there is zero reason to pay a 3rd line center 8 million dollars. theres other, cheaper players that can be signed or acquired via trade. and worrying about geno's replacement seems like a next year problem, not a this year problem.

Matt Roy will easily get 6 x $6,000,000 and he's not signing in Pittsburgh either.
