Due to our cap situation (all but $22.5 million already committed to only 12 skaters), the only player we could afford to send back to Toronto in a Marner trade is Pierre-Luc DuBois.

I was very surprised when the kings even made the deal for Dubois. If there were a team that didn’t need another center, it would be them. Especially since they committed more time to Kopitar.
