Leafs have no need for picks, and Knies is growing nicely. The Leafs' left side is also pretty decent, they would want someone on the right.
The one thing Reilly does better then any NHL Defensman in the league is play both sides without any decline or issues.
He's just as strong on RD as he is on LD. He just becomes more of a Trigger man on LD while on RD he's the guy who QB's all the plays and carries a lot more into the OZ (easier to protect the puck but harder to shoot it unless you got elite back hand skills which Reilly does)
I dont like the idea of trading him to a rival is my hang up TBH
I know every MTL fan pretends to hate Komasarek but that **** hurt seeing him in a TML jersey.
I mean Grabovski no one cared but players we're attached to , its a hard sell unless they're declining and we're just taking anything like Plekanec deal(which ultimately lead to Lane Hutson)
I mean if it was Dvorak who cares but Matheson , Guhle, Xhekaj, Suzuki, Caufied, Slafkovsky are names that would hurt seeing them on our rivals team.
The rest is more of a Victor Mete vibe of "o look he's still in the NHL, good for him " or are Veterans who will test Free Agency and likely leave anyways
I do like NYR trade but i doubt they need D , they usually as a rule are moving out D to make room for better D they developed
CAR has a lot of UFA's but thinks they'll all re-sign and NJD looks like they're using lesser D beside great players but they're defensive anchors who have good chemistry in most cases.
I'd like to make a deal with LAK for Kaliyev and a pick but they dont have the cap to do it and i dont have the solution
But Kaliyev is the right age and i think fits our system while Matheson gives the LD a boost as Gavrikov's been more of a #4/5 D
Matheson could walk in play behind Anderson-Doughty with either Clarke or Spence.
But really the only teams i can think of who can use him cap wise it dont work.
EDM would be a no brainer but how do you make it work cap wise, same with VGK ?
