Marner's NMC stops that

And second why do we want a divisional rival to get better?

Also 0 need for Hill need a goalie just sign one in FA

Stolarz, Talbot, heck if Sammy plays like he did game 2 rest of series and beyond he's an option to return

Yes I know he has a NMC. It's more of a fantasy land trade lol.

Also yes the Sens might get a bit better but they "get better" every year and still finish bottom 10 in the league lol.

You add Marner to that team they make the playoffs. Imagine him next to Tkachuck and Norris or Pinto.

As if they add him, hire someone like Berube, then go get a goalie and another top 4 Dman they could make noise and finish 3rd to high WC.

That is an odd trade between division rivals that could work both sides. Batherson is a less points version of Marner but still very good to help the leafs, chychrun gives that 4 four DMan. Chychrun is also a pending fa which gives extra value for Ottawa as long as an agreement was in place to resign Marner!
So value wise makes sense and depending on Ottawa signing to replace chychrun can make them a playoff team. That being said, it is a fantasy trade as commented. The odds of the two divisional rivals doing this is slim!

You forgot about Stutzle imagine Tkachuk - Stutzle - Marner first line. Wow!

I’d probably go:
Tkachuk-Pinto-Marner
Greig - Stutzle - Giroux

Just unsure about the playoffs with both Marner and Stutzle

Buffalo and Ottawa come each within 1 point next year proving they got a lot better only to fall 6-10 points behind the next year again!

I do feel for both fan bases, they have great players and deserve something more!

They both have no defensive structure and don’t get the timely saves.

I think to me you get the right HC who implements the right system and OTT is in the playoffs

Remember how Trotz transformed the Isles Defense system from like near last to top 3.

Cause if the system can improve and the goalies can get more support may see better results. Like when Talbot went to LA his numbers rose thanks to that system despite fans hating the 1-3-1 lul

UPL does look good along with Levi in Buffalo and now add Byram. Wow! That being said I knew they offense would dry up more. Tuch and Skinner both with career year would revert to normal. Which they did. Both are good top 6 forwards but better on second line. Either way, it seems like when one thing goes right, another goes wrong for both franchises. Add in the failures of Bills on football almost makes it worse for Buffalo fans.

In general divisional rival trades are not great except at the TDL and if its for rentals. When terms involved and involving these kinds of players GM's know its best not to help eachother

In Debrincat's case what could OTT do he tied their hands and DET had the best offer. If they could Debrincat would be no where near DET and would probs be in another division entirely.

Like the last thing TOR or OTT want is to miss the playoffs because they helped the other guy. If both knew they were out by TDL thats fine but its gonna be a warzone next season where I see DET, OTT, and BUF making very strong pushes to yeet someone out of the spots or to secure both WC

The Sens just need 2 way guys and toughness like example ROR, Nyquist, Lauzon and Schenn + a good goalie and they’re fine. They don’t need big names chasing again

Both have the same issue . Too many puck moving LD and not enough defensive RD like Cernak, Carlo etc to play them with

They need more D that can handle the tough minutes

OTT declines, they would not trade bath for a guy who will make almost 3x what he does.
