I don't want to pile on this guy (but Im gonna), 99% of these are absolute pipe dreams. There's a negative chance Sam Reinhart goes to an ageing pens team. Even less of a chance of them being able to re-sign Sid for what he's earned if they did that. Also totally agreed on Graves, why would they take on salary to help a team with 3 cups in 15 years

you wasted all your cap space, have no money to pay Crosby, DOC and MP a raise the season after, and you still have what is arguably the worst defense in the league with 3 AHLers in POJ, Ivany, and should never be put on the ice Ludvig.
    Bravo

Calgary doesn't want Graves unless he comes with 20-25% retention.

I’d love to have Ryan Graves. He comes with Term and $4.5mil/yr isn’t a bad Cap Hit imo

Much rather have Graves @ $4.5mil/yr than Zadorov @ $3.75mil/yr as a comparison

If Dubas offered Reinhart that deal, Reinhart is very likely to sign. PIT is a highly desired player destination with lower than average taxes, very low cost of living, excellent facilities, and favorable player treatment. That's also a massive overpayment for Reinhart too. Crosby could easily fit in the cap the next season as well given his raise is less than what the cap increase will be. Something else would have to be moved out, but it wouldn't be Crosby.

He already plays somewhere with NO state taxes and on a better team with a better future, short and long term. $10MM is not a massive overpayment, he's earned that. And if they have to keep moving pieces to fit guys in, they'll be left with the Wilkes-Barre Penguins plus Sid, Reinhart, Karlsson, and Letang

Sure, but why are we doing PIT favors and trading for a guy that's $750k-$1M overpaid for what he brings, especially on a long contract?

I'd rather trade FC for Orlov, so we could flip him at the deadline.

$10m long term is a MASSIVE overpayment for Reinhart. His shooting% this season is nearly double his career average. You're delusional if you think that will remain. FLA has huge cap restrictions so while they might get him signed, it won't be on that contract. And no logical front office should offer that which is why I said if Dubas did offer it he would sign it. PIT won't be competitive regardless of this hypothetical Reinhart contract.

I’m gonna go with the Younger Canadian Vet with Term who we can build around over the Older Orlov that will likely cost assets to acquire and has almost a 75% greater Cap Hit

Orlov has the Russian connection to some of our Players, but Graves seems more of a Flames type player to me

$4.5mil/yr is cheap for the minutes Graves can eat and we have a tough time getting players to sign in CGY, so again, I like that he comes with term and he’s juat entering his prime compared to Orlov who is more likely to fall off going forward as he’ll be 33 come July
